Greater Boston Interfaith Organization is established.

(Jan.) The organization is made up of a coalition of community and religious congregations. Lew Finfer is the first director. Its purpose is to promote solutions to social problems, particularly the lack of affordable housing in the Boston area. Eventually comprised of 87 congregations, approximately 4,000 people attend a kick-off rally at Boston College High School on November 22, 1998.
